Benicia Eagle Scout describes public "Wishtree" at library

Dionne Miller Garcia, a life scout and Eagle Scout-project leader, addressed the council during public comment to describe a new "Wishtree" she installed next to the Benicia Public Library as her Eagle Scout project.
"My name is Dionne Miller Garcia, a life scout in Troop 9 located here in Benicia," she said, explaining the Wishtree includes painted rocks, lights and a box of writing materials so residents of all ages can leave written wishes. She told the council the installation is intended to "attract positivity, encourage creativity, and increase the overall spiritual well-being of the community."
Staff told the council the library will maintain the Wishtree going forward. Garcia thanked her troop and scout leaders for help building the project and urged residents to support local scouting and the new community feature. The comment concluded with the council congratulating her on reaching the Eagle rank and noting the project as a community-minded public-arts contribution.
