Westbrook officials report progress on Boston Post Road sidewalk projects

For the STEAP 2022 Boston Post Road East project, Gillespie said the town received a state environmental permit and must schedule permitted vegetation work and complete Inland Wetlands Commission and 8‑24 reviews with the Planning Commission and Board of Selectmen. He added the TA set‑aside project has completed a preliminary survey that indicates part of Boston Post Road may lie on private property and that the survey needs confirmation before engineering proceeds.
The presentation focused on permitting steps and next engineering phases; no votes were taken. The commissions noted that right‑of‑way confirmation and the timing of DPW availability are the critical next steps for letting any construction contracts.
