Board members applaud student accomplishments, library grant and honor alumnus

Board members used their comment time to recognize student achievement and community support. Dr. Kolette Smith congratulated Grace Ruark on being selected 2024–25 State SkillsUSA President and noted that Labette County High School will host a welding competition day; she also reported a $5,000 library grant to LCHS from the SEK Library System.
Kevin Cole recognized the late alumnus Mike Elsworth and said memorial funds have been designated to the LCHS FFA. Justin Bebb raised a question about a newspaper report that said Highway 160 would receive overlay work but did not mention widening, and he suggested contacting the Highway Department to clarify. Jessie Foister praised the LCHS FFA and thanked Altamont Food Service staff for refreshments.
