New appointee Laura Jensen to observe votes until completing required municipal training

The commission welcomed Laura Jensen at the start of the May 26 meeting. Jensen introduced herself and described seven years of involvement in Eagle Mountain civic life and the Chamber of Commerce. Staff and commissioners clarified training requirements before voting.
Marcus (staff) and other commissioners reviewed the statutory requirement that municipalities provide a specific pre-participation training and that new planning commissioners complete it before voting in a public meeting. Marcus recommended scheduling the mandated municipal course through staff; Brandon and the chair said staff will provide the materials and a schedule so Jensen can complete the required training and then participate fully in votes.
Until that training is completed, commissioners agreed Jensen may participate in discussion but should not vote. The commission recorded that plan and will track delivery of the training.
