Panel advances bill letting attorney general choose venue for nonprofit dissolutions

Sponsor Representative Cochran said the change is meant to align this part of code with other venue provisions. "House bill 2019 basically just allow it ... allow the AG to choose which venue, to take that case," the sponsor stated. Members asked whether a specific case prompted the change; Cochran said he did not have a single motivating example and described the bill as a consistency fix.
After brief questions, the subcommittee voted to send the bill to the full judiciary committee. The clerk reported the vote as 6 ayes and 0 nos. The measure will next be considered by the full judiciary committee.
