Miss Dervese, representing the Kyle Hyland Foundation for Teen Support, thanked the council and described programs launched in memory of her son, including an upcoming community walk and resource fair scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. at the Highland Teen Center in Benicia. She said the foundation will host "Chalk for Life" events at Benicia Middle School, Benicia High School and Liberty High School and has launched a behavioral-health program providing peer mentoring at nearby wellness centers and both individual and group therapy for students.
The foundation representative noted the new youth programs were enabled by state funding and invited council and residents to tour the teen center and attend the walk and resource fair. The council acknowledged the proclamation and thanked the foundation for local outreach and service delivery.
