Councilwoman Brandenis and others debated whether nominees previously considered could be reintroduced; the council took roll-call votes that resulted in 3'3 ties.
Councilmember Johnson nominated Rhonda Denyne; roll call recorded votes including "Mr Johnson: yes; Miss Winton: yes; Mrs Bridal: no; Miss Rose: no; Daniels: no; Geiss: yes," producing a 3'3 tie and causing the nomination to fail. Johnson then nominated Caroline (transcript spelling varies between Patz and Pence); that nomination also failed 3'3 after a second roll call. Corporation counsel clarified that a later nomination of the same individual can be brought as a new motion under Robert's Rules when circumstances have changed.
Council discussed the need to fill the vacancy ahead of budget season and encouraged members to contact potential nominees before the next meeting. No appointment was made at this session.
