On June 16, 2026, commissioners supported a change in Section 4.04 of Draft Two to increase the minimum vertical clearance standard from eight feet to eleven feet. The commission also discussed treating both multiple-family dwellings of 3–10 units and those with more than 10 units as special land uses in the Commercial District.
Village Administrator Phil Morse presented the proposed standard change and commissioners agreed the higher clearance would be appropriate. On multi-family housing, the commission favored a special-land-use approach that would subject larger multi-family developments in Commercial Districts to site-by-site review rather than automatic permissibility. Staff will reflect these preferences in the next draft of the ordinance.
