Village Administrator Phil Morse and DPW Supervisor Jeremiah Helenhouse reported the existing SCADA system has experienced a significant failure and, after temporary repairs by King Service, the system failed again. Staff told the council preliminary information suggests a lightning strike may have caused the damage and that they are working with the village's insurance provider to determine whether the policy will cover some or all of the replacement cost. The replacement is intended to restore reliable monitoring, remote communication, and coordination among water and wastewater system components.
The council's motion authorized acceptance of the Kennedy Industries quote; the agenda item record lists Kennedy Industries and UIS as proposers. No amendment or alternate funding source was recorded during the discussion.
