CAO Chambers presented current budget standings during the council's budget priority-setting session and acknowledged an apparent discrepancy in the Equipment fund.
Councilmember Jeff Blakeley asked where the money that had been reported as an Equipment fund excess for 2025 had gone after staff now reported a negative beginning balance. CAO Chambers said she was attempting to determine how prior staff made the calculation that showed an excess. Mayor JB Tennison and CAO Chambers discussed the timing of a roll-up door expenditure that should have been recorded in 2025.
Councilmember Mary Helms requested that the budget include sufficient funding for the Fire Department going forward. No specific dollar amounts were approved at the meeting; CAO Chambers will continue reconciling the Equipment fund figures.
