Planning Commission hears updates on three sidewalk projects and next steps

Peter Gillespie, Planning, Zoning and Development Director, updated the commission on sidewalk projects across town on May 11.
On Boston Post Road West, Gillespie said the town is working with the Department of Public Works to secure a DOT encroachment permit and is hoping to start installation in fall 2026. Regarding the TA Grant for Route 1 East, he said the project is in conceptual stages, the town has received a revised cost estimate, and staff will meet with DPW and hold a public information session to discuss scope and affordability. For the STEAP 2022 Boston Post Road East (OS Town Line) project, Gillespie reported the town needs agreements with some property owners and must complete a bid process and state requirements before proceeding.
Commissioners agreed these projects require additional coordination with DPW, property owners, and state agencies, and asked that staff return with specific timelines and cost details at future meetings.
