Peter Gillespie told members the town presented a draft flyer and workplan at a CT Main Street event and received positive feedback from other communities; a five-member local committee is refining an initial budget. Gillespie said the material estimate for Town Green and parking-lot lighting is approximately $15,000, not including wiring or labor, and that the CT Main Street Accelerator program offers a $5,000 grant if Westbrook completes the process.
Committee members discussed whether remaining TCRC/EDC funds at the end of the fiscal year could be reallocated to the project. Chair Marilyn Ozols asked whether proposed lighting would comply with dark‑skies standards and suggested using a lighting engineer to ensure fixtures are shielded appropriately.
