LCHS to replace parent-teacher conferences with ‘Showcase Nights’; district names new community liaison

LCHS Principal Stacy Smith told the board that the high school will move away from traditional parent-teacher conferences and instead hold two "LCHS Showcase Nights" on March 4 and 5 open to students, parents and community members.
Smith also announced an LCHS Career Fair scheduled for March 6 and an entrepreneurship contest planned for the spring. She said Jack Leake III started this week as the district's community liaison and noted that Jake LaTurner will be at LCHS on Feb. 20 at 12:30 p.m. for anyone who wishes to attend.
The changes are presented as ways to increase community engagement and broaden opportunities for students; the board did not take a formal vote on these programmatic items during the meeting.
