Board holds two executive sessions on personnel; no action taken

The Labette County USD 506 Board held two executive sessions during its Feb. 12 meeting to discuss an individual employee’s performance under the Kansas Open Meetings Act (KOMA). Kevin Cole moved the first executive session for 20 minutes beginning at 7:30 p.m.; Justin Bebb seconded. The session included Superintendent Dr. John Wyrick and Assistant Superintendent Shane Holtzman and concluded with no action taken.
Later the board entered a second, 25-minute executive session beginning at 7:55 p.m. to continue discussion of an individual employee’s performance; Greg Bogner seconded that motion. When the board returned to open session, the minutes record that no action was taken as a result of either executive session.
The minutes note the subject matter and statutory basis (non-elected personnel under KOMA) and explicitly record that no votes or personnel actions resulted from the closed discussions.
