The Hazlet Township Committee on July 14 adopted resolutions addressing obsolete public-safety equipment and an exchange of weapons inventory.
Resolution 26-170 authorizes the Hazlet Police Department to trade aged weapons inventory to a federally licensed firearms dealer for a credit of $9,100 to be used for future ammunition purchases. The resolution states the Chief of Police recommended the trade to upgrade the department’s weapons inventory at no taxpayer expense.
Resolution 26-155 authorizes disposal of various items deemed broken or obsolete and of no monetary value, listing 93 Vista body-worn cameras and mounting clips, additional Motorola and Vista charging stations, vehicle recorder system components removed during an AXON install, and miscellaneous parts. The resolution directs disposal through the recyclable system or as refuse/scrap per municipal process.
