Town staff to implement positive-pay and electronic statements; direct debit for taxes discussed

At the Dec. 2 meeting Nicholas Elder, a town staff member, presented a MuniFi and banking update that included several recommendations to modernize Weybridge’s cash-management practices. Elder outlined options such as using intraFi banking services, implementing 'positive pay' fraud controls, and moving to electronic bank statements. He said he will move forward with positive pay and with electronic statements. The board also discussed direct debit as a future option for tax collections.

Board members framed the recommendations as operational improvements intended to reduce fraud risk and administrative burden. No formal vote was taken on the banking changes at the meeting; staff will proceed with implementation steps and return to the board if additional approvals or funding are required.
