County considers $7 million CH78 project, $3.8 million maintenance resolution and multiple bridge replacements

Rock Island County’s Highway Department presented a slate of capital projects and funding proposals to the Finance & Personnel Committee that were reported to the Committee of the Whole on April 15. Notable items included a resolution for CH78 improvements from US 67 to Indian Bluff Road costing $7,000,000 and a Motor Fuel Tax resolution authorizing $3,822,000 in anticipated maintenance expenditures for FY26.
The committee also considered bridge and structure work: a low bid acceptance for structure/bridge replacement on CH50 at $497,902, a resolution for structure 081-3094 over Meridosia ditch at $500,000, and replacement of structure 081-3110 over Mill Creek at $1,500,000. The CH50 bid was accepted; no bids were received for CH55 and the County Engineer was instructed to obtain three quotes for CH55 replacement for review by county leadership.
