Commission approves conditional-use permit for contractor services in general commercial zoning

Kara Velois, a planner for the city of Abilene, presented CUP 20-26-08 on behalf of applicant Winifred Campbell and described the location, permitted uses and the plan of operation. Staff reported that notices went to properties within a 200-foot buffer and that there were no responses in favor or opposition.
"Staff recommends approval subject to the plan of operation," Velois said. The commission opened and closed the public hearing with no speakers and, after a motion and second, recorded affirmative votes; the motion carried and the conditional-use permit was approved for the proposed contractor services use.
The approval was framed by staff as consistent with the comprehensive plan, surrounding uses and the city’s land development code. The applicant will proceed under the plan of operation and any required permits.
