Conservation board approves Fairview Concrete bid and bridge engineering work

The Jones County Conservation Board voted June 8 to approve a $4,610 bid from Fairview Concrete for concrete replacement on the Wapsi Trail and at Central Park and to add two concrete bench pads for $1,850. The motion to accept the Fairview Concrete bid was made by Russ VonBehren and seconded by Megan Manternach; the board recorded "All ayes," and the motion carried.
In the same meeting the board approved a $4,000 engineering bid for inspection, load rating and metal repair work on the Central Park Fremont Mill Bridge. Dean Zimmerman moved to approve the bridge engineering bid; the motion was seconded by Megan Manternach and recorded as carried. The approvals fund immediate maintenance and engineering to assess and address structural needs at the park bridge.
