Williamstown to pursue Municipal Planning Grant; CVRPC to assist and Selectboard approval needed

Rich Turner told commissioners he had spoken with Eli Toohey about the Municipal Planning Grant program and said Williamstown would pursue a new, more robust town plan rather than a simple update. Turner said grants range from $15,000 to $30,000 and that the application window opens Jan. 27, 2025; he is registered for the Jan. 28 webinar on the new Grant Electronic Application & Reporting System (GEARS).
Turner said CVRPC will help the commission with the application but that the Selectboard must formally authorize submitting the grant request. Commissioners discussed budgeting questions and the town match; Turner said current budget figures show $8,000 and noted earlier planning estimates of $8,500 related to sidewalk work and possible match needs.
