Mayor Dwayne Paris reported that he applied for two no‑match fire grants from the Washington Department of Natural Resources: one for $23,000 intended for personal protective equipment and communications equipment, and a second for $98,967 intended for operations and used to purchase a custom configured 6x6 ATV. "I have applied for two grants with the Department of Natural Resources for Fire Grants, with NO match," Paris said.
Paris also announced an Asotin County town-hall meeting scheduled for the following night at 5:30 p.m. at the Fire Hall on Appleside in Clarkston to discuss placing a 1/10 percent sales tax for emergency communications on the ballot. He noted the city will watch WSDOT activity on the 1st Street project after bids were opened on June 18.
