The Asotin City Council voted 5-0 on June 23 to approve procedural steps toward suspending the local business license of DEBELLA Corporation, a roofing contractor, after citizen complaints alleging aggressive solicitation tactics. Councilmember David Weakland moved the action and Steve Cowdrey seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Clerk-Treasurer Tina Davidson told the council that the city had received complaints and that staff member Monte had opened a case. Davidson said the city is following the code process under Title 5, Chapter 5.08 (Commercial Solicitors and Itinerant Merchants). "We are in the process of revoking their license," Davidson reported, and the council approved moving forward so the complainants can attend the next meeting to present their statements. The minutes record the motion as "Motion to approve the steps to suspend Debella Business License in the City of Asotin, by Weakland/Cowdrey, motion passed 5/0."
