County proclaims Small Business Week; Sunny Dogs vendors recognized during meeting

The Rock Island County Board proclaimed May 3–9, 2026 as National Small Business Week and invited local small-business owners to the dais. Will and Ellie Elliott of Sunny Dogs accepted the recognition and described their vendor operations in the area. Will said the business has been important to his reengagement with the community after military service: "I was in Iraq in '08 and '09 ... between Sunny Dogs and my wife, I'm back out in the community," he said.
Ellie Elliott added that at the outset her husband was reluctant to speak with customers but has become much more engaged through the business. Board members and the chairman thanked the Elliots for their entrepreneurship and service. The proclamation and brief vendor remarks were part of routine governance and community recognition during the meeting.
