Mayor Peter Sharp told the council the city received an AWC grant that will refund the yearly cost of Lexipol—estimated between $1,300 and $1,800 per year—and a separate $5,000 AWC grant for education expenses. He said an AWC representative will be in Soap Lake March 26–27 to conduct a public workshop on the Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA).
The mayor also reported staff will remove the remaining holiday lighting soon (white lights will remain through Earth Day), Visitor Center doors, windows and trim are being replaced, and a walkthrough of city buildings identified maintenance needs. He directed residents to a questionnaire posted on the mayor’s web page at www.soaplakewa.gov/mayor.
