Council accepts $10,000 LTAC grant to support Soap Box Derby

The Soap Lake City Council on Dec. 4 voted unanimously to accept a $10,000 grant from the Lodging Tax Authority Committee to support the Soap Box Derby. The grant will be used "to promote the Soap Box Derby, replace equipment and purchase ramps," according to the meeting minutes.
Councilmember Bryson moved to accept the LTAC grant and Councilmember Carson seconded; the motion carried without objection. Fire Chief Baker told the council the Prevention Coalition has expressed interest in partnering on the event in the future. The vote came as part of the council's Old Business agenda and was recorded as a formal acceptance in the minutes.
