Residents press council on noise, water and traffic risks tied to proposed annexation

At the start of the public hearing for annexation ANN 205-2, residents used public comment to ask about potential impacts if the site is developed as a data center. Mildred Marske said she had seen the notice in the newspaper and asked whether the site was intended “for a data center,” adding, “we've been hearing about all of the noise that these centers make and we're concerned with the noise and the depletion of the water supply.”
Another resident who lives on West OSR said the parcel is across the street from their driveway and asked how increased traffic will be managed, whether turn lanes or widening are planned, and how access onto Highway 21 will be handled. A staff member offered to have city staff contact the residents to collect more information and to follow up with answers. Planning staff reiterated that traffic studies and flood studies would be required during site plan review and that utility extensions are prerequisites for development.
