The South Ogden City Council approved Ordinance 25-01 on Feb. 18 to amend the consolidated fee schedule and charge $50 per participant for city CPR classes.
Staff explained the change is intended to recover program costs as attendance has grown. "For our, what it cost to put these classes on, we just make sure we recoup some of those costs," a staff member said during discussion. Council members asked whether financial assistance would be available; staff said the city could accommodate individuals who cannot afford the fee.
The ordinance passed on a roll-call vote. Council members discussed advertising the availability of financial aid and ensuring instruction capacity: staff said current classes are taught by department instructors and the city can direct outreach to residents who need assistance.
