Board approves vehicle and equipment purchases for county engineering operations

The Marshall County Board of Supervisors approved multiple purchases for the county engineer’s office at its March 25 meeting, including a 2026 Ford F-150, a Caterpillar 96-inch construction fork, and a CL Fabrication Dominator tree puller.
Paul Geilenfeldt explained the $60,409 purchase of the Ford F-150 from Charles Gabus Ford (Des Moines) is intended to replace the engineer’s current truck; the existing work truck will move to office use, a 2016 Ram 1500 will shift to the shop, and a 1998 Ford Ranger with over 200,000 miles will be replaced. The board approved the $30,193 purchase of the forks from Ziegler Cat (Altoona) and the $5,200 tree puller from Nessa (Zearing); Geilenfeldt said the forks are needed for unloading materials and the tree puller will assist brush-removal operations. All motions carried 3–0.
