City manager outlines capital projects, park upgrades and upcoming events

City staff delivered the city manager’s report, noting multiple ongoing capital projects and community events. Updates included final-phase construction on the South College/Carson intersection with one northbound lane to reopen and full roadway expected by Thanksgiving; aerial/steel work on the Chick Lane elevated storage tank with connection to the water system expected in mid-October and online by the end of December; completion of Stella Ranch gravity line and force main work; and pump delivery pending for the Bush Lane lift station.
Parks and recreation items included installation of high-efficiency LED lighting at an outdoor tennis court (extending hours and enhancing safety), removal of dying and dead park trees across multiple parks, and scheduled community events including the Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial 9/11 remembrance and free walk events. Staff also previewed game-day shuttles to Texas A&M and an inaugural Main Street game-day programming event with large video displays.
