Abilene MPO adopts 2027–2030 Transportation Improvement Program amid rising costs

The Abilene Metropolitan Planning Organization policy board approved the 2027–2030 Transportation Improvement Program, acknowledging significant cost inflation and resulting shifts in project timing.
Staff told the board that "due to cost inflation in the last 10 years, costs... inflated by over 80%" and that, after adjusting the fiscally constrained project list, some projects moved into the future while the Waldrop Interchange safety project was moved into the current TIP. Staff also said a May 19 public meeting was held with no attendees and no subsequent written comments; TAC and staff recommended approval.
A board member moved to approve the TIP, a second was recorded, and the TIP was adopted by voice vote. The board did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript. Staff said the new TIP includes CityLink's updated project list.
