Staff reported a problem with the public‑notification mailings for the Farmhouse project: of 106 certified letters sent, 46 were returned as received and 58 have not been confirmed delivered to the intended recipients. Council and staff discussed contacting neighboring developments and the local postmaster to determine whether the issue is isolated or systemic.
Gruber said staff had raised the issue with the local postmaster and would await the postmaster’s response; if the postal service cannot assure reliable delivery staff said they would consider alternative service methods such as personal service with an affidavit. Council members suggested adding additional ZIP codes in Hardeeville to ensure notice coverage and asked staff to document the issue when they meet with the postmaster.
