The council approved a property exchange with MHP #1 LLC on Feb. 24 to acquire about 0.23 acres near the mobile home park entrance (appraised at $211,800) in exchange for the city-owned parcel at 2739 N Parkland Blvd (appraised at $353,200). Staff said the Parkland property was originally purchased using WACOG funds for the 2700 North expansion; any net value gained in the exchange must be returned to WACOG per funding requirements.
Andrea Steiniger said staff mailed offers and attempted contact with the property owner and attorney; the final negotiated compensation will return to council for approval once completed. Council approved entering the public hearing and subsequently approved the exchange 5-0.
Separately, council approved a Letter of Understanding with Union Pacific Railroad to secure an additional parcel needed for the road project. Staff reported Union Pacific accepted a substantially lower offer than the appraisal. Council approved the railroad agreement by motion (5-0).
