Weston Volunteer Fire Department reports $38,000 FEMA reimbursement, dry-hydrant success

Leo Pujdak, president of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department, updated the Selectboard on department repairs and readiness, saying a FEMA reimbursement of “approximately $38,000” for repairs is expected soon. He reported a recent dry-hydrant test achieved a 400-gallon-per-minute flow and described community risk-assessment work and safety training conducted with the Weston Theater Company.
Pujdak told the board that upcoming roofing work on the firehouse is expected to begin Monday, June 2, 2025, and that fire rigs will be relocated nearby while maintaining access to the dry hydrant. Both Pujdak and the Selectboard emphasized maintaining open communication; Pujdak said he may begin attending meetings quarterly to provide updates.
