Board tables 302 Willow Street case to July after owner says he’s pursuing Board of Adjustment approval

The Board of Building Standards voted to table consideration of 302 Willow Street to the July meeting to allow time for the owner to pursue Board of Adjustment approval and submit required permits and cost estimates.
Ricky Wright presented the case and staff recommendation to find the property a public nuisance. Owner Jeremy Ford, who identified himself at the hearing, said he has applied for the Board of Adjustments and is working on contractor estimates. "Within one week, I had to pay and come up and get into that board of adjustments...so the idea is to get that reapproved, hopefully, for residential, and then quickly pull those permits," Ford said. Board members questioned whether he had firm contractor estimates and whether he could execute the work; several said the case had been tabled previously to await the Board of Adjustments.
After debate, the board voted 5–2 to table the case to July. The motion-maker said that if permits are not pulled after the Board of Adjustments decision, the board will move to demolition. The action preserves the city's 30/60/90 enforcement options if progress is not shown.
