The Moderator proposed adding a risk-management initiative to the city’s strategic plan to reduce the quantity and severity of workplace accidents and related claims. “Not once did I ever think we should include something around risk management in our strategic plan,” the Moderator said, citing review of workers’ compensation and other claims data from the Utah Local Governments Trust.
Commission members discussed using the strategic plan to keep risk management visible and to ensure the city provides needed training and tracking. The proposal was presented as a placeholder for staff to refine and to be considered during the larger reorganization of strategic priorities.
