Commission conditionally approves pool and barn project at 11 Edwards Road

The Avon Inland Wetlands Commission voted unanimously July 7 to approve Application #813 for work at 11 Edwards Road, allowing a replacement barn, an in-ground pool with a stone terrace, buffer plantings and associated site access and erosion-control measures.
Samuel Sabin of Sabin Landscape Architects presented the plan on behalf of owners Robert D. Davey and Susan Ellen Rietano. Sabin said an assessment prepared by Jackson Environmental concluded that, provided the proposed soil-erosion controls and buffer plantings are implemented, the project would not have a significant impact on the property's wetlands, which include a productive wetland and a brook. Planning and Community Development Specialist Emily Kyle cautioned that the current plans did not yet meet the Town Engineering Department site-plan checklist and described the checklist elements applicants must satisfy before a building permit is issued.
Commissioner Ellen Retelle moved to approve Application #813 with conditions; Commissioner Daniel Carvalho seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The approval requires the applicant to implement the listed erosion-control measures, complete the Town engineering checklist and follow any other conditions the Commission specified in its approval notice.
