Township staff outline online business directory, aim for January launch

Lower Allen Township staff presented an update on a new online business directory intended to list township businesses with contact details and storefront photos.
Director Sweeney introduced the initiative and turned the presentation over to Sierra from the Community and Economic Development (CED) department. Sierra told the board, “My name is Sierra and I work in our CED department here. ... As I say, we're about halfway done at this point, and I anticipate we'll have it done at the beginning of the year, hopefully by the end of January.” She said entries will include business name, address and phone number and that staff will gather storefront photos and category tags to help residents search for restaurants and other services.
Commissioners asked how listings will be updated; Sierra said a certificate of occupancy or permits will be a primary trigger and that staff who observe new businesses will report them. She said staff will add a public email contact on the directory so businesses can request or update listings directly. No formal vote was required; staff indicated the directory is not yet public.
