Garland board grants one‑month extension for repairs at 2013 Glenwood Lane after owner describes ongoing work

Staff told the board that 2013 Glenwood Lane suffered fire damage on June 18, 2025, was condemned in November 2025 and remains unoccupied. Photos from the morning of Jan. 22, 2026 showed broken windows and fire damage; staff reported that some windows had been replaced without permits and advised that required permits and final inspections must be completed before occupancy.

Owner Mario Igas said he had pulled a pre-fire inspection permit and is doing repairs himself: "If you give me at least just one more month... I'll have a way to fix this thing," he said through a Spanish‑language staff facilitator. Board members asked whether the owner had contractors or outside assistance; he said the work is primarily self-funded and near completion, and staff offered guidance including Spanish-language support through a bilingual inspector.

The board moved to extend staff deadlines by 30 days (from April 22 to May 22 for the owner-provided inspection date and corresponding enforcement dates). The motion passed unanimously. Staff will continue to coordinate with building inspections to confirm permits and final tags before the case returns to the board if necessary.
