Council approves rezoning for LARD LLC to correct R2-to-M2 miscategorization

Planning & Zoning considered the request on July 7 and recommended setting a public hearing and approval. There were no public comments during the council public hearing. The council voted to suspend the statutory two-meeting rule (6-1), then voted on final passage under Iowa Code § 380.3 and authorized the mayor to sign the ordinance; the final passage vote was 6-1.
The council majority said the change fixes an existing miscategorization and brings the written zoning map into alignment with intended land use; one member voted no on suspending the rule and on final passage.
