Council awards water service-line identification contract to Mason Private Locating LLC for $414,875

Frank Motz presented the town’s solicitation for water service-line identification and investigation (a mandated effort to locate pre-1987 service lines that may contain lead). He told council six bids were received on June 4, 2026 and recommended the lowest qualified bidder, Mason Private Locating LLC, at $414,875. Bids ranged from $414,875 to $1,255,873.
Council members asked whether the bids quoted the same scope of work and noted the large spread in prices. Motz said the town has until 2027 to complete identification of service lines. After brief discussion a motion was made and seconded and the council awarded the contract to Mason Private Locating LLC for $414,875.
Next steps: staff will finalize the contract documents and begin the identification work required by state and federal lead-reduction mandates.
