The Homewood City Council voted 5–0 to adopt an updated traffic-calming policy intended to standardize how neighborhood requests are evaluated. City engineer Amy Zeri told council the update restores a clear process that includes engineering review, Complete Streets Advisory Committee input, Technical Oversight Committee review and preliminary review with the mayor and the ward councilor.
Zeri said the speed cushions will be rubber, bolted in and secured with an epoxy to maintain stability and that the city had obtained supplier pricing that could allow installation at roughly five locations with available funds this year. Councilors discussed timelines and committee meeting frequency; staff said the Complete Streets advisory group meets quarterly but can be contacted by email to expedite reviews.
