Council carries amendment to compact-parking definition to Aug. 10

Council considered proposed language to amend Ordinance 2949 to better define "compact motor vehicle" for enforcement of compact parking spaces near Patriot Park. Staff read the proposed amendment, which specifies that compact-vehicle status is determined by a vehicle's physical length and width so it can be parked entirely within the marked space.
The council did not vote on final adoption and carried the measure to the next meeting (Aug. 10) to allow additional review. Staff said the change is intended to remove ambiguity and improve consistent enforcement of compact parking spaces.
