The Chair announced the city has entered a long-term agreement for the management of the Sports Ohio facility and said the city has representation on the steering committee. "The city has entered into a long term agreement for management of the Sports Ohio facility," the Chair said, and encouraged residents to read the public announcement.
A commissioner asked if the steering-committee meetings were open to the public. The Chair and Commissioner Wei clarified that the steering committee is a mixed group including council and commission representation and some private members and that, because it does not have a quorum, it generally does not qualify as a public body under the open-meetings act. Commissioner Wei stated, "I don't believe that they are considered a public body under the open meetings act based on my understanding." The chair added that the steering committee will create recommendations that will proceed through the city's formal process and be reported to City Council, which has already voted on the Sports Ohio agreement.
