District accepts 2025 audit, auditors report clean opinion

The Stansbury Park Improvement District board unanimously accepted the district's 2025 audit at its June 16 meeting after an auditor summarized the report and fielded questions from the board.
Nate Davis of Haney, the district's auditor, told the board that "in our opinion, the financial statements referred to above present fairly, in all material respects" the district's financial position for the year ended Dec. 31, 2025. He said operating revenues rose in 2025 primarily because rate adjustments approved in 2024 took effect on April 1, 2025, and the district transitioned some customers from quarterly to monthly billing.
Davis also highlighted a required presentation change that splits compensated absences between current and noncurrent liabilities and reported no findings for internal controls or state compliance testing. During board questions, staff and the auditor discussed a reconciled payment to a gravel supplier as an example of audit inquiries; the auditor explained these are typically coding or timing differences uncovered during reconciliation procedures.
Board member (voice S7) moved to accept the audit and financial report; the motion was seconded and approved unanimously. The board directed staff to finalize the auditor representation letter and submit the certified financials to the state as part of the standard process.
The acceptance allows staff to complete audit deliverables and to file the report with the state as required. The district manager said the signed audit and certification will be uploaded to the state once finalized.
