Commission: art show improved year over year but attendance counts need work

Sarah Forsyth, the commission's staff liaison, presented registration and attendance figures and cautioned the counts are not strictly comparable year to year: "250 to 119 on the visit count, but, again, those numbers aren't comparable truly," she said, noting counting methods and repeat entries likely inflated last year's figure.
Commission members praised improvements in display and sales, acknowledged volunteer fatigue during the show and identified several lessons learned: recruit more youth artists by engaging schools earlier, shorten exhibit hours (afternoon activity tended to decline after about 3 p.m.), and add more display grids and hooks. Melissa Guana thanked staff and volunteers for quick setup and singled out promotions and ribbons as successes.
The commission agreed to use the after-action feedback to guide planning for next year's show and to use data-driven metrics to evaluate future events.
