Trustees approve future water, sewer stubs for Bates Canyon parcel owner Randy Salt

The Stansbury Park Improvement District board on Dec. 16 unanimously approved a request to place stub water and sewer laterals to serve two existing homes and two potential future dwellings on the Bates Canyon Road parcel owned by Randy Salt.
Staff explained the proposed mainline running east along Bates Canyon Road and said the developer would extend mains with stub outs to Salt’s property. Salt said he does not plan to tie in immediately but wants the future option: "I could possibly have a place for my children," he said. Board member Matt moved to approve placement of laterals for two existing and two future connections with Salt’s commitment to annex into the district when he connects; another trustee seconded, and the motion passed on a unanimous voice vote.
Trustees and staff noted the development would be subject to applicable impact and treatment fees at the time of actual connection and that annexation or other conditions could be addressed in the connection agreement. Staff flagged system capacity as adequate for the proposed four connections given the planned phases of the nearby Sunset Majestic View development, but said a future return would be required if Salt’s needs change substantially before tying in.
