Staff told the advisory board the mayor’s Arbor Day proclamation and tree planting will be held Saturday, Nov. 1 at Woodland Park (815 West Walnut). Check-in is scheduled for 8:30 AM, the mayor will present the proclamation around 9:00 AM and tree planting will begin around 9:30 AM. Volunteers can sign up through Volunteer Garland; registration for the tree giveaway opens Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 9:00 AM.
The staff presenter listed four tree varieties available for the giveaway—autumn blaze maple, cedar elm, chinkapin oak and shumard red oak—and said the distribution will use assigned time slots to reduce lines. The board recorded the date and time and asked follow-up questions about species suitability and logistics.
