Garland Parks and Recreation earns CAPRA accreditation; council recognition planned

Keith Reagan, introduced by staff as the department lead on CAPRA work, told the board Garland Parks and Recreation was approved for CAPRA accreditation and noted the designation is rare—about 231 agencies nationwide have earned it.
Reagan described the accreditation process, annual reporting requirements and the department’s next steps. "They was overwhelmingly approved our Capra accreditation," he said. Staff will distribute a plaque and other materials at a later date and invited board members to the council recognition event on Monday at 7:00 PM in council chambers.
Reagan emphasized the accreditation required cross-department collaboration (including HR and emergency management planning) and that the city will continue annual reporting to maintain the designation.
