Garland Girls Softball says program serves ages 4–14, restarts high-school division

Steve Fuentes, identified in the meeting as the Garland Girls Softball representative, told the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board that the league runs from T-ball (ages about 4–6) through 14-and-under and had re-started a high-school division this season.
Fuentes described substantial volunteer support, regular practice and game schedules, park conditions at the Spring Creek complex near Webb Middle School, and recent equipment upgrades such as new digital scoreboards. He said participation levels are strong (several teams per division) and explained the league’s fee structure: $75 in the spring and $60 in the fall. "It's a great park...it's well lit at night," he said, praising maintenance and occasional patrol presence to keep the site safe.
Board members asked about retention and participation from neighboring cities; Fuentes said most players are Garland residents but teams sometimes include players from Richardson, Mesquite and nearby areas. He encouraged parents with concerns about umpire calls to contact league leadership directly so issues can be resolved, and thanked board members for support.
