Board approves vestibule security window and buzz‑in doors pending ADA checks

Staff described the plan and told the board the work would be paid from the office budget. A committee member summarized the decision in a motion: “I’ll move that we approve the office security doors and safety window, with the bulletproof window, level 1, as discussed, pending ADA compliance, requirements being met.” The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Board members raised several accessibility concerns before the vote, asking staff to measure the vestibule and confirm the clearances and door‑swing geometry required for wheelchair access. One committee member said the doors’ swing and the required 24–36 inches of clear space beyond the open door must be checked; staff agreed to return with measurements.

Cost estimates presented at the meeting compared a level‑1 bullet‑resistant window (quoted at roughly $9,953 including installation) with a tempered‑glass option (presented as approximately $8,000 including installation), plus roughly $2,000 to modify the wall and approximately $5,000 for door hardware. Staff told the board funds are available in the office budget for the project.

Board members also identified vendors discussed at the meeting: Phil’s Glass (installation coordination and vendor referral), QuickServe (glass supplier), and Bill’s Lock Shop (door hardware installer). The board instructed staff to verify ADA compliance and proceed with contracting once the measurements confirm the window will not obstruct required egress or maneuvering space.
